This year started pretty slow for music but picked up as things went on. This post will be comprised of shout out to friends who released music this year, as well as a playlist of some of my favourite stand alone tracks of the year (Down at the bottom!)

Shout Outs!

Lots of people I know released some great music this year! Please check them out and support independent/local artists!

Dawson Rutledge — Monsters

My Cranbrook-based nephew released an awesome folk/indie-rock record this year. Super proud uncle alert!

The Body Politic — Contr:Addiction

These Nanaimo boys came out with a really solid and aggressive prog-metal album. Super crunchy and delicious!

Dane Letourneau — 20/20

Also from Nanaimo but taking a much gentler approach to music, Dane released a gorgeous solo record this year. Definitely check it out if you need something soothing.

Derrival — “Ice Cream” / “Found Out”

My boys. All grown up. *Sniff!* These Langley/Vancouver boys released two singles/videos this year — new album soon I hope! Super smooth/fun/delicious alt-pop stuff. These are songs that stick in your brain.

Todd Stewart — Everything You Want EP

Coming out of Calgary, Todd Stewart combines folk/blues/americana/country into a really smooth blend. Great for lazy afternoon driving or just chilling around the house.

And now a playlist of some of my favourite tracks of the year!

Pharrell is one heck of a producer. This is just one of the more than 20 tracks on my playlist this year!

What were some of your favourite tracks of the year? Check out mine below!
